Colourful Wedding Stationery: 2022 Tone Trends

Posted: 08 Mar 2022

New and emerging wedding trends can be a brilliant source of inspiration in your planning for the Big Day, and sometimes going against the grain of tradition can bring your personalities into play within your wedding styling. In recent years we’ve seen the wedding industry dominated by muted tones, with Pantone leading the way with a sleek grey colour of the year in 2021 and a mellow blue the year before that. Shades of neutral and pretty pastels can work beautifully for weddings and be truly stunning, but I want to get you excited about a sizzling new trend for 2022 – colour! Colourful wedding stationery is one of the things I most love to create, so here are some things to bear in mind when you decide to embrace a splash of something different…

Spice It Up Sparingly

Vibrant colour schemes can look and feel overwhelming if not used carefully, so my top tip here is to use colour in accents and splashes. Colourful wedding stationery items such as place cards and menus are the perfect place to choose bold over blush, and they’ll really brighten up your wedding tables! One of my favourite examples of fun colour used really well is at The Canary Shed in Essex; their space is full of light and has the most wonderful natural walls, which act as the perfect canvas for their stunning flock of playful paper birds suspended from the ceiling! At a venue like this it’s easy to pull pops of colour from what’s already there, spicing up your sit down meal without having to provide sunglasses!

Don’t Be Afraid to Clash!

Clashing colours are all the rage for 2022! We’re seeing it everywhere in fashion, with colour-blocking making an appearance for spring and summer. If it’s good enough for the catwalk, don’t be afraid to make a splash and clash with your colourful wedding stationery! There’s a bit of an art to knowing which colours clash just so, and one of my personal favourite combinations is pink or orange with blue. If you want to work on some wildly individual wedding stationery together, I’m happy to advise on the best way to make it look fashion forward rather than fashion faux-pas

Go Nuts for Neon

I promise you, neon doesn’t have to feel like you’re at an 80s disco…luminous pinks, oranges, yellows and greens can be both fun and classy, and really add a pinch of personality to your wedding day. A great option for neon colourful wedding stationery is a fun sign, telling your guests where to sit or what’s happening throughout the day. To really get on-trend, why not consider wedding signage that isn’t beige or square!? Check out my blog on how to mix up the shape of your wedding stationery

Oh, and in case you’re wondering…Pantone themselves are embracing a ‘novel’ and ‘courageous’ shade for 2022, commenting that their new hue ‘Very Peri’ brings the ‘energy and excitement’ of red to a blue tone! It’s official, colour is trending…
